| ABOUT US : escape2charente is a four gite and bed and breakfast complex located in Charente. The complex is owned and run by an English family who live within this 1.5 hectare renovated farm. We offer flexible changeover days where possible and are open all year. |
| AIRPORTS : 50 minutes south of Poitiers airport, 1 hour west of Limoges airport and 20 minutes north of Angouleme-Cognac airport. |
| TOWNS : Although a rural gite, escape2charente is only 10 minutes away from the village of Mansle and 25 minutes from Angouleme, ideal for restaurants, bars, music venues and shops. |
| AREA : The land around the complex is rural with lots of rivers and tracks perfect for fishing, walking, cycling, horse riding, canoeing and painting to name a few, with a pony club just up the road, mountain bikes at your disposal and a canoe rental centre in nearby Mansle. The area is also world famous for it's Cognac and Pineau with distillery's dotted all over the region, most have a visitors centre to sample and buy from. Angouleme has a lot to offer everyone with fetes, markets, music, an annual classic car rally around the town and an annual comic strip festival with a lot of the town discreetly decorated with cartoon pictures of people peering down at you from the buildings above. |
